In today’s fast changing world, knowledge and skills are evolving quickly making it difficult for those in education to keep abreast of the latest developments and making it challenging to create teaching materials that are current and motivating to students. Universities were founded on the principle of sharing knowledge. By pooling knowledge and effort educators gain from a collective synergy which benefits educators and students alike. Currently, such sharing of knowledge and even resources is largely an informal process via publishing papers and harnessing personal relationships between academics. The “Faculty Cooperative” is a venture to create a means whereby academics can be both the owners and customers of the IPR they generate, thereby providing synergy to optimize the educational product for the market, provide an embedded sales team and offering a source of investment for academic enterprise. More information on this will be made available soon but, in the meantime, if you would like to read a paper that introduces these ideas then click on the following link; “An Entrepreneurship Model for Future Intelligent Educational Environments”. If you are interested in receiving more information, or being part of this faculty cooperative movement, leave your details on our contact page and we will get back to you when we are closer to our launch date (expected to be late 2012).
